When You Get A Second

Introduction

Hi.

Andrew here, thanks for taking a second to come check us out, for the obligatory blog intro post. When You Get A Second is the latest in one of the oldest pillars of the internet: Blogs where friends talk about the music they are listening to. I've spent untold thousands of hours reading about music on the internet, only drugs make music better than some good context, and how else are you supposed to find out what tags to click on Bandcamp? Music's great, I love talking about it with my friends, and while I love just sharing links and recs with people, adding a bit of dialogue to it is where I hope the magic happens.

And yeah had the whole near death experience and being stuck in bed for a year thing. It feels weird being pretty much fully on the other side now, as much as you can be anyway, and part of my newfound lust for life is making a concerted effort to stay in touch with my friends, something I have often not been amazing at even before that all happened. Some people find god in my situation, some try to mine it for fame, I just want to get to the bottom of what's worth checking out.

The plan, as much as there is one, is to have biweekly* releases of the newsletter showcasing what we've all been listening to, from albums and DJ sets to radio shows and live music. The only instruction I've given people is to not write like you are doing a review, so I make no promises of some sort of house style or consistent tone, some people might write under 300 words while some will write to get something out of their system. Most of us will eventually write about Short Span if you want to start that label dive. If you are reading this feel free to join the party, drop a rec of your own, or just want to say that's what's up, we can be reached at WhenYouGetASecond@proton.me
